Copper scrap

Copper - No 1 bright wire

Shall consist of clean HC copper wire not thinner than 22 gauge, free from hard wire, brittle burnt wire and iron and commercially free from any other foreign matter.

Copper - No 2wire

Shall consist of copper wire such as burnt tinned wire. It must be free from hair wire, vat wire, burnt wire which is brittle, iron, and commercially free from any other foreign matter.

Copper braziery

To include unalloyed copper scrap such as cylinders, tanks, boilers, kettles and roofing copper strip and sheet all of copper content in the material as received natural state at buyer's works not less than 88% and excluding immersion heaters, heating elements, plating jigs and racks, fire extinguishers, insulated materials and any sealed vessel or container.

Copper new tube

Shall consist of clean, dry, unpainted copper tube free from tin, lead, solder, oil, grease, plastic and alloyed material.

Aluminium scrap

New pure aluminium sheet, wire and cable

New uncoated, unalloyed aluminium sheet, wire and cable scrap, not burnt or corroded. The aluminium content shall be 99% minimum. Minimum thickness 0.2mm. Free from hardwire, wirescreen, iron and all other foreign substances. A delivery may contain a stated percentage of pieces less than 5cm by previous arrangement between the parties. The total tolerance for oil, grease and non metallic coatings: 1%. The scrap must be free of deleterious materials.

Aluminium mixed castings

Whole or broken aluminium castings of all kinds. Free from crusher scrap, free from iron and all other foreign substances.

Aluminium turnings, containing up to 2% zinc

Aluminium boring, millings and turnings of two or more specified alloys, with a range of 2% to 4% zinc. Free from grindings and free from magnesium and non-magnetic steel.

Aluminium - used beverage cans (UBCs)

All aluminium UBCs should be free of all contaminents, including steel, lead, plastics, sand, iron, glass, dirt, paper, foil, grease and any other foreign substance.

Aluminium - used collected foil

All aluminium foil should be free from all contaminents including coloured foil, oil, laminated materials (e.g. coffee pouches and paper backed foil such as butter paper and cigarette foil), organic waste, sand, glass, moisture, papercard, dirt and any other foreign substance.

Aluminium - irony castings

Aluminium castings containing iron and/or other metal attachments or inserts.

Aluminium - copper radiators

Shall consist of aluminium and copper radiators, free from brass tubing, iron and other foreign contaminents.

Other metals and products

Brass

Consisting of yellow brass castings and rod scrap. It must be free from manganese, aluminium, silicon and nickel fixtures, condenser tubes and iron.

Brass swarf

Shall consist of swarf from brass rod. Free from manganese and aluminium mixtures.

Brass/copper radiators

To consist of clean, whole motor car and commercial vehicle radiators of copper, and copper and brass. Free from iron and plastic.

Unburnt cable

Shall consist of cable with a copper conductor(s) whose diameter may vary.

Stainless steel

Shall consist of mixed stainless steel scrap, free from harmful contaminents.

Lead acid batteries

Shall be free from metal cased batteries. Containers used for transporting spent batteries shall be free from excessive liquids.

Lead

Shall be free from dirt and any other foreign matter.

Oversize steel

Large pieces of metal which require cutting for positioning in shearer chamber.

Heavy

Engineering off-cuts from manufacturing process.

Light

Car bodies/light iron roofing material/metal shelving etc.

Cars

Car shells.

Cast iron

Cast iron boilers/pipes/man-hole covers.

Engines

Engines from cars, buses, lorries and coaches.
